Jewel in the Crown

Background

Mental well-being is concerned with how people feel about their lives and whether their lives are worthwhile. It is not just the absence of mental health problems and can be described as “a dynamic state, in which the individual is able to develop their potential, work productively and creatively, build strong and positive relationships with others, and contribute to their community.” Being creative is mindful and meditative; jewellery making and beading are fun ways to relax and stay healthy. Taking the time to use our hands, minds, and energy doing something we enjoy and that makes us happy is of highest importance in life. Creativity is fun, and doing anything that brings joy reduces our stress levels and improves quality of life.

Getting involved with the arts can have powerful and lasting effects on health. It can help to protect against a range of mental health conditions, help manage mental ill-health and support recovery.  Our workshops aim to be a release from life's anxieties and to help boost mental health.
